Network Rail

Critical incident training for the Executive Team and Senior Managers

The challenge

Network Rail owns, develops, and operates Britain’s railway infrastructure and passenger safety is top of its agenda. Since 2019, Colin Morgan Consulting, one of our partner companies, has been helping them design and deliver critical incident training for its CEO, Executive Team and Senior Managers. In 2020, we were asked to accredit and co-design an additional incident management training that would be delivered by Colin as part of a programme of professional development for Incident Investigators.

Our solution

Working closely with Colin and his team we have co designed and delivered several critical incident exercises for Network Rail using the view360global platform.

As a Skills for Justice (SFJ) Approved Training Centre, we have accredited the ongoing programme of delivery of the Tactical Incident (TIC) and Rail Incident (RIC) Commanders courses and independently quality assure (IQA) the training delivery and assessment and evaluation materials. We also co-designed and delivered the final exercises on the courses on our view360global platform, preparing all the mixed media used in the training.

The results

To date over 40 TIC and RIC courses have been delivered from Networks Rail’s Regional Training Centres which has resulted in the successful completion and certification of over 236 senior managers. The participants were highly complementary of the view360global platform, recognising its potential use across the organisation. Network Rail have now licenced the platform, and we have continued to assist Colin Morgan and Network Rail to co-design and deliver several crisis management exercises for a large number of operational and executive staff across the UK.
